About Us

Meteorologist Michael Wilhite

Hello and thanks for stopping by! I am a passionate meteorologist, committed to providing accurate and timely forecasts for today’s multi-platform  weathercasts. I am an expert in social media and specialize in winter storm and severe weather coverage. As a child, my dream was to be a weatherman on TV. Times have changed. Today, while I’m not on TV, I am fortunate to be living that dream of being a meteorologist.

My goal is simple: provide the most accurate forecast in plain and simple English so that anyone can understand the weather and stay safe! Covering severe weather and winter storms are some of my favorite parts of being a meteorologist. My degree in Atmospheric Science comes from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. I have been married to Bethany since 2003 and have one daughter named Abby and a dog named Gracie. I also pastor New Hope Baptist Church in Newtonville, Indiana in Spencer County.

My passion for forecasting led me to start Southern Indiana Weather in December 2012. Since then, I have gathered a significant following on social media, have produced hundreds of video forecasts on my Youtube channel, submitted daily forecasts to multiple radio stations in the Southern Indiana area, served as the official weather provider for the Dubois County Bombers baseball team and have even been a feature story in five local newspapers across the Southern Indiana area (Dubois County Herald, Springs Valley Herald, Paoli News, Spencer County Journal and Perry County News).

In addition to forecasting for Southern Indiana, I also provide coverage for parts of the Lower Ohio Valley, including most of Kentucky. I also cover agricultural weather across the Midwest and Plains states.
